Our CCS Blank decks are made from the same rock solid Canadian Maple wood that all the decks we carry are made from. The shapes and board dimensions are based directly from common, iconic designs of some of the most popular models in the game and we adhere to a strict “7-ply or die” policy when it comes to board construction. While popsicle shapes have definitely become the most common shape you’ll see in skateparks and on the street, we try to keep our skateboard selection broad enough to satisfy a wide range of styles and width-preferences. For younger kids or smaller body-types, we have several options 8” or under as well as a half-dozen sizes in the above-8” range for the average, modern skate rat.
We sell more of our blank decks than any other brand, presumably because they’re up to snuff and perform equal to the best on the market. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that skaters are people, despite what appearances may suggest, and people like to save a few bucks if they can still get a great product. We know you could use the extra cash, especially when considering how popular all the skate-related side projects have become like hip hop mixtapes and punk bands and macrame circles.

One common technique that customers use in order to score a complete skateboard for under $90 is by selecting a deck of their choice from one of the reputable, albeit unrelated-to-CCS brands we carry then add on CCS trucks and wheels. Considering the relatively short lifespan of a deck as compared to wheels and trucks, it’s safe to assume you’ll only be replacing your deck once or twice a year and the other parts only every other year or so. Most young skaters will rely on a new complete around the holidays and then take extra precaution to make their Christmas/Hanukkah/Winter Solstice/Festivus gift last by caring for their trucks and wheels and the riding the deck and bearings more frivolously since they’re easier to replace and will naturally wear out faster.

Raw chrome has been known to evoke a subconscious roar of an invisible engine and our black-finish trucks have been a hit with the Misfits/Samhain/Danzig crowd. CCS Wheels are 100% Urethane, which has been the de facto material for skateboard wheels since almost the beginning. Errr, almost the beginning. Full disclosure: There was a weird learning curve period in the late sixties/early seventies where wheels were clay or metal but most of us agree to just not mention that out of respect for common decency.
The last element you’ll need to consider when budgeting the cost of your new complete is bearings. Those are the shiny silver things inside your wheels that look like really wide coins with holes in the middle. They operate by rotating little metal balls around in a balanced revolution of the stem of your trucks, allowing the weight of your body to be evenly distributed around the four wheels and still spin smooth enough for hauling ass. The spectrum of quality in today’s bearing market is quite wide, ranging from “so bad you’d be better off with some chewing gum and WD-40” all the way up to zero-friction, light speed bearings that allow you to time travel and literally cost several thousands of dollars. CCS Bearings are a perfectly smooth and leisurely Abec 7 and they’re only $400 a set. Just kidding! They come totally free, standard with any of our completes at no extra cost and a measly $9.95 if you get them by themselves. Not to brag or anything but the Abec Scale only goes up to 9 so an Abec-7 is, well...ya know.

A new complete is one of the best things a burgeoning young skateboarder can have and we want you to preserve that asset for as long as possible. Here’s some pro tips on how to get the most out of your board and increasing it’s life span:
Keep your board dry. The glorious snap of a fresh wood hitting smooth concrete will turn into a dull thud overnight if your board spends a night in the rain, snow or even just a morning covered in the slick dew of a new day. A water-logged board loses its rigidity and the wonderfully satisfying "SNAP" that you hear every time you pop a trick. Keep your board indoors or in the garage. Sleep with it if you have to. Just don’t leave it outside where it’ll be vulnerable to the weather.
Avoid puddles. Bearings are made of metal balls in a cylindrical ring and with a little lubrication, they allow your wheels to spin in a safer, more efficient way that’s easy to control. If water gets all up in your bearing’s junk, clean them with a petroleum-based lubricant as soon as possible.
Try not to use your tail as a brake. The more you use your tail, the quicker the plys of wood will start to show and become vulnerable to chipping and flaking off. Your tail is your main point-of-snap so it’s important not to treat it like the other POS, which is exactly what a chipped tail feels like to ride. A good alternative to tail-breaking is using the toe of your shoe instead. Rubber is a better brake anyway. If you don’t believe us, ask your car.
