DGK (a.k.a. Dirty Ghetto Kids) was the name given to a crew of skateboarders who skated Love Park in Philadelphia. The nickname, which was mostly a reference to where members of the crew came from, stuck. DGK started in 2002 with the mission to be a company for skateboarders from disadvantaged communities. This approach to the skate industry as allowed it to go from a tight knit crew of skateboarders to a global line sold in core skate shops and boutique stores alike. Most DGK apparel and board graphics relate back to a common theme, "from nothing." This consistent messaging has helped DGK carve out its niche in skateboarding.
