Oakley started as a motorcycle grip company in the 1975 by James Jannard. Jannard slowly built the company’s BMX and motocross inventory up by selling at motocross events, eventually making a pair of goggles, the O-Frame. By 1983, Oakley was selling snow goggles, and in ‘84, Oakley’s first sunglasses, the Factory Pilot Eyeshades were released.

Most people think of Oakley Sunglasses when you mention Oakley, and more often than not, it’s the Oakley Frogskins they’re picturing. The Frogskins were released in 1985, and had a huge impact on popular culture. Today, people are still rocking the Frogskins, but the materials and sunglass lens technology has come a long way. Oakley Skateboarding started in 1995, and continues to build its team, which includes big names like Sean Malto, Ryan Sheckler, and Luan Oliveira. Among the Frogskins, popular styles in Oakley skateboard sunglasses are the Catalyst sunglasses and the Latch sunglasses.
