The Origin of the Vans Side Stripe

January 20, 2014

Time for a quick history lesson: Vans put together a short clip of their main man behind the brand, Steve Van Doren, telling us the origins of Vans’ iconic Side Stripe. Appearing in 1977, the Side Stripe was first placed on the Old Skool, and originally called the “Jazz.” You can now find the Side Stripe on a number of Vans’ kicks, including the Sk8-Hi, Crockett Pro, and the Rowley Pro Lite. But don’t take it from us, watch the video below and here it from the Godfather of Vans, himself. Then click the images and head to the CCS Shop to get Side Striped by Vans.
