CCS's Matt Price spent one day shooting photos with Macey out in LA and we talked with her a bit about cats, skating with Reynolds, magic spells and more. Scroll down to learn more about CCS's newest team rider.

CCS: What up, Macey! Thanks for taking the time to do this interview. Let’s start with the easy stuff: What’s your name, age, and where are you from?

Macey: What’s up how’s it going, I’m Macey lemus I’m 19 and I live out in Temecula!  

How long have you been skating and what got you into it?

I’ve been skating for about 7 years now. Long story but pretty much my middle school crush told me to skate so I did and it stuck with me, honestly i didn’t think I’d be able to do all the shit I do!

So you got to spend some time shooting with Matt Price for this interview - what was that like?

It was a very fun day, I enjoyed shooting with him. Got a sneak peak of the pics and they came out so sick, I can’t wait to shoot with him again.

Did you hit his camera at all? I feel like that’s like a right of passage shooting with him. I think he kinda likes it.

Haha surprisingly no, there was a few times though on the pole jam where I felt like i was going to send my board flying at him!!

What is your first memory of CCS? Did you ever get the catalogs growing up?

Mmm definitely buying one of my first few boards. I’d always be so scared to go into a skate shop so that (CCS) was the best way!

I didn’t get any catalogs growing up but I just got one a few months ago. I was hyped to see that in the mail.

Who’s your favorite CCS team rider past or present?

Most definitely the queen!! NORA VASCONCELLOS.

Essential skate interview question: What’s your current board set up?

Currently set up is a Baker board, independent Trucks, Spitfire Wheels, Mob Grip and Bronson Bearings!!!

How did you start getting involved with the Baker crew? Were you nervous meeting Reynolds or anyone from the team for the first time?

I knew some of the riders prior to getting on, but one day Andrew Reynolds followed me and I was so hyped and I hit him up to skate the park and get a sesh with him, I remember that day so well - I was definitely hella nervous but it was a great day!

What’s your favorite thing to skate at the Baker Boys park and who’s your favorite person to skate with there?

Ooo that’s a good one! I’d definitely have to say the back wall that and the quarter pipe to the bank to wall it’s such a fun thing to mess around on. For favorite person, I’d have to say Ryan Lee. I never get to see him skate much but when we’re there I always see him whip out a kickflip or a G-turn.

Watching you skate, I feel like you have an ability to just go for stuff and aren’t afraid to take a slam. Have you always felt really confident on your board?

Honestly I’d say so. I’ve always been clumsy as a kid so I’m used to falling, but with skating I kinda enjoy the slam and the adrenaline!

Also it always makes a great clip.

Current favorite song on repeat?

It’s always changing every day but currently it’s ‘inside out’ by the 999

Tell us about your Insta handle @_skatewizard how did that come about? Are you into magic at all? Any anti-gravity spell recommendations for more pop? Asking for a friend..

This is a good one! It’s kind of an interesting story, but my grandma is Colombian and her English isn’t too well, so she was talking to my brother and he kept thinking that she was saying "wizard" in her story and he was just telling me about that and then said "skate wizard" in the sentence and then we were both like, damn that could be a good new name! I’m curious to know if anyone can remember my old one!

I mostly have some powers but unfortunately I can’t share them to anyone else.

Are you a cat person or a dog person? Any pets of your own?

I love them both but ima have to say cats, I have a son so I can’t say dogs cause he’ll be upset 

What’s next for you, Macey? Are you working on any video projects right now? Any trips coming up?

I most certainly am working on some magical shit right now pretty hyped on how it’s looking. I can’t wait to share with the rest of you guys. No trips anytime soon that I know of, but I’m sure there will be something.
