The Santa Cruz Screaming Hand show finally crawled its way on all five digits to Portland and it did not disappoint! Jim Philips created the original Screaming Hand design in 1985 and since then his art has inspired generations of skaters and artists alike. 30 years later, all those kids who doodled screaming hands in their notebooks grew up and became amazing artists and skaters. Our friends at Santa Cruz and Vans rounded up some these artists, which happen to be some of the most influential individuals in the skateboarding and art world. Mark Gonzales, Natas Kaupas, and Mike Giant were just a few of the many to paint, illustrate, and even carved their own renditions of Jim Philips legendary Screaming Hand graphic. The Screaming Hand Art short has traveled around to world and finally landed at Upper Playground gallery located in Downtown Portland. We were there for opening night to check out some art and instigate some shenanigans with the CCS crew. Check out our photo gallery and see how it all went down. If you are in the Portland area be sure to check this show!
