Etnies Helix Shoe Review

February 21, 2017

The Etnies Helix upper is made up of a breathable die cut EVA foam with a mesh overlay. While this makes for an incredibly light and breathable shoe, it wouldn’t be particularly durable on its own. Reinforcements to make this shoe more skate-friendly come in the way of a Geohex vamp and double stitched suede side panel and toe cap. Etnies shaved the weight down even further by using a impact protection STI Evolution Foam midsole, which is carried through the outsole. The popular rubber Sole Tread was borrowed from the team favorite, the Jameson Vulc, was used to give the Helix skate shoe familiar grip and boardfeel. Overall, the Helix does a great job of balancing skate tech performance with style, for a lightweight shoe that’s going to last thanks to some smart reinforcements.
