With over 500 brand new decks to choose from in the CCS store, there’s never been a better time to order a new board to ride. And though there’s plenty of wood to go around for all you CCS customers, there are some advanced deck constructions that are seriously worth checking out…or even better, riding.
Since all of the Hi-Tech Decks feature some very specific technologies, I’ve taken a small sample of what we’ve got in stock in order to break down their particular specifics. Without further ado, here are some Hi-Tech Decks that are just begging to be ridden right now.
Alien Workshop Arto Saari Moon Pop Technology 8 x 31.63
Right now I’m riding this Moon Pop Arto deck and so far I’m fully backing these things. This particular model clocks in at 8 x 31.63, but there’s a bunch of Moon Pop decks available in all kinds of sizes.
So where’s the gimmick? There is none. Moon Pop boards feature a custom carbon fiber inlay that’s visible on the top of the deck. This composite material brings super strength and a good kind of stiffness to the deck while still retaining the organic feel and weight of your typical 7 ply Maple board. Moon Pop decks offer a proper long lasting pop with very little flex.
If you’re looking for a solid board with snap for days, this should be your go-to.
Almost Super Uber LTD V2 Deck 7.7 x 31.1
Clocking in at 7.7 x 31.1, this Rodney Mullen Uber Light deck features a constructiion that’s years ahead of its time. Developed by Rodney Mullen himself, the evolution of the UBER Light came after many different methods of construction. Essentially, Uber Light construction decks are composed of an internal carbon fiber foam deck that is ultra light and nearly as stiff as metal. It acts like a skeleton embodied by a standard 7-ply lay-up, so it’s sort of like a board within a board. The deck wears, slides, and looks like a normal 7-ply, but it’s far lighter and has a supernatural pop that lasts longer than normal decks.
The UBER Light also features lateral stiffening for consistency and accuracy. Flip tricks depend heavily on the exact moment that your foot pops the nose or tail. By minimizing flex along the rails of your deck, board-control becomes easier.
If you’re looking for serious weight reduction, tons of pop and a much greater lifespan of your board, the UBER Light should be your next board.
Darkstar Chet Thomas Bonfire Deck Featuring Armor Light 7.6 x 31.6
Darkstar head honcho and legendary ripper, Chet Thomas, has also done his fair share of things when it comes to the progression of board technology. One of his most revolutionary concoctions is the Armor Light.
This board measures in at 7.6 x 31.6 and of course features the Armor Light make up. Armor Light’s feature an extra strength carbon composite center and an ultra light maple veneer.
This revolutionary formula is made even better with a super bonding resin glue. The result is a superior stiffness, insane lightness and a pop that keeps on keeping on.
Flip David Gonzalez P2 Deck 7.8 x 31.5
Flip Skateboards is the most recent brand to step up to the board technology game. Their entrance is marked with the pattented P2 technology.
This P2 Construction includes an oval-shaped fiber reinforcement panel, which enhances the natural performance and pop of its supporting seven, thin veneers of maple (around it).
The oval shape is designed to spread stress from impact and loads throughout the entire deck, versus around only the areas closest to the trucks.
The P2 construction provides exceptional added resilience to the deck creating a “Spring Loaded Pop” effect. P2 decks are thinner and lighter regular 7-ply wood skateboards.
Foundation Duffel This Is Fiberlam Deck 7.63 x 31.25
Here’s another construction that I’ve had the chance to ride. The Fiberlam is a Tum Yeto innovation that’s available on both Foundation and Toy Machine decks.
Essentially Fiberlam’s consist of top and bottom sheets of carbon fiber which give greater upward flex strength and overall stiffness to the board. Your board will stay stiffer longer and the board strength will prevail over time.
As an added bonus to the boards peformance, the Fiberlam bottom ply provides greater, smoother, faster and easier slide potential with less surface wear.
It’s sort of like a slick-bottom, without the extra weight. One of the best, longest lasting boards I’ve ever ridden. Hands down.
Habitat Silas Baxter Neal Textile Deck Bamboo Construction 7.88 x 31.63
The idea behind Bamboo Ply construction is pretty simple. It uses 7 revolutionary thin plies of maple and 1 super thin Bamboo top veneer.
Bamboo Ply decks add strength without additional weight while maintaining deeper concave and stronger laminate configuration as the board wears over time.
