etnies is the creative footwear brainchild of 80's French freestyle pro Pierre Andre Senizergues who started the brand in 1986. Seeing a clear need for skateboard specific-shoes, Senizergues took matters into his own hands and launched a line of footwear built to withstand the durability demands of skateboarding, while being stylish enough to hold rank in the streets. Since that year, etnies is credited with having the first ever pro model skate shoe released in 1987 with pro Natas Kaupas, and today is one of the largest and most successful brands in action sports footwear, sponsoring a full roster of athletes from skateboarding to motocross and beyond.
